چکیده
This study investigates the system stability of breakwater foundations subjected to earthquakes from a probabilistic point view. A fully approach, i.e., combination Monte Carlo simulation and Bishop’s simplified method, has been developed evaluate failure probability foundation damage, one prevailing failures encountered during earthquakes. Twelve sections perforated caisson breakwaters located around Korea were chosen as case studies. First, reliability analysis was performed for all at existing conditions; then, calibration process involving estimation load resistance factors conducted 12 three levels target index. As performance function, used in foundations, is defined based on an implicit shape with high-dimensional space variables, becomes cumbersome complicated. Therefore, this proposed sensitivity be implemented prior elicit effects variables each breakwater, which, thereafter, effectively directs process. The results indicate that frequently occur different modes. should estimated considering possible modes foundation. elucidate soil strength parameters are dominant contributing whereas seismic coefficient presents negative effect, causing insecurity breakwaters. In particular, deadweights, though directly forces, show small effect foundations. shows slightly vary increase index set 1.10 safety levels. contrast, factor exhibits inverse relationship specified Especially when equals 1.10, 0.90, 0.85, 0.80, corresponding 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, respectively. Eventually, it proved makes procedure more efficient. Accordingly, iteration execution diminished, convergence quickly accomplished.

Calibration of Load and Resistance Factors for Reinforced Concrete
Current approach for designing of reinforced concrete members is based on the load and resistance factor. However the load and resistance parameters are random variables, the constant values have been designated for them in the designing procedure. Assuming these factors as the constants, will be led to the unsafe and uneconomical designs. Safe designing of structures requires appropriate recog...

Floating breakwaters are widely used due to their various advantages over stationary breakwaters. Lots of researches have been done on hydrodynamics and the type of bracing of these kinds of structures in recent years. In this study, numerical modeling of stresses caused by collision waves has been investigated. For this purpose, samples of floating breakwaters have been modeled in ANSYS softwa...
متن کاملRaft and Pile Foundations under Cyclic Loading
The paper presents typical phenomena which can occur due to cyclic loading in granular soil. Numerical analysis with different material laws shows the challenges to simulate the ground behaviour realistically. Results of numerical analysis by means of the Finite-Element-Method are presented and the limitation of material laws discussed.
متن کاملModelling and analysis of a Romanesque church under earthquake loading: Assessment of seismic resistance
In this paper a Romanesque masonry church is analysed in order to assess its structural behaviour and its seismic vulnerability with respect to the actual state of conservation. Starting from a specific case study, a contribution to the issue of modelling and analysis of monumental masonry buildings under seismic action is provided. A finite element methodology for the static and dynamic nonlin...
